The Pau Brazil is Brazil's national tree. It can reach a height of 30 meters! Its perfumed yellow flowers appear from September to December. The Pau Brazil is part of the history of Brazil colonization: its reddish wood was a great commercial interest, causing intense competition and even fighting among explorers in Brazil. It was abundant on the Brazilian coast, particularly along the coasts of the modern-day states of Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Pernambuco.
