In 2008 Christine Dutreil moved from Paris to New York and became a Senior consultant for public and media relations as well as business development for 2 communication agencies. Prior to moving to New York Christine was head of communications of a French listed company. Christine Dutreil graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and obtained her degree in Law.  Christine Dutreil has always been dedicated to charities (reve d’enfants at Opera de Paris).

Cindy is the US Corporate Controller at Anne Fontaine USA Inc. overseeing the finance, human resources and IT areas for the US subsidiary of Anne Fontaine global.  Cindy joined Anne Fontaine in March 2006.  Prior to joining Anne Fontaine, Cindy worked in the stock photography industry, notably Getty Images, starting her career at Arthur Andersen.  She has volunteered for the American Red Cross, New York Sokol, and Kids ‘n U.


Director: Alexandra Lauvaux, Of Counsel, DLA Piper US LLP, New York.

Alexandra Lauvaux is an attorney with DLA Piper US LLP's New York Office. She obtained her LLM from Columbia Law School in 2000 and graduated in her native country France from Ecole des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC), a Diplome d'Etudes Appliquees from La Sorbonne, and a J.D. from Paris II Assas. Ms. Lauvaux represents a number of private and public charities in the United States as well as international clients having commercial activities in the United States. Ms. Lauvaux is a member of the New York Bar.

Matthieu de Boisséson, attorney and partner at Paris-based law firm Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier

Holder of a PhD in Literature, alumnus of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris and holder of a Master’s in Business Law from University Paris 2, Matthieu de Boisséson's practice expertise is in the area of litigation and international arbitration. He is visiting Professor at the Universities of Nanterre and Versailles and represents international clients in many countries including Brazil. Matthieu de Boisséson is the author of several law books, as well as works of literature, which include « Une amitié stellaire » (novel, Denoël, 1990), « Le Grand Chariot » (novel, Gallimard, 2011), « Echapper aux tueurs » (prose and poetry, Gallimard, 2012), « Cimes et souterrains » (prose and poetry, to be published, Gallimard). He has a longstanding interest in the Brazilian language and civilization. 

 

William Wayt Thomas, Elizabeth G. Britton Curator of Botany at the New York Botanical Garden

Since 1990, Wayt Thomas has been studying the plant diversity of the Atlantic coastal forests of Brazil in order to better conserve them. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1982 and began working at The New York Botanical Garden in 1983. His field work has focused on northeastern Brazil, especially Bahia, where he assists different NGOs with his expertise. Wayt Thomas is also Executive Director of the Organization for Flora Neotropica, which promotes the preparation of systematic monographs of plants and fungi in the American tropics.

Maria Uriarte, Associate Professor, Dept. of Ecology, Evolution & Environmental Biology, Columbia University, New York

Dr. Uriarte obtained her MS from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Science. She completed her PhD at the Dept. of Ecology, Cornell University in 2002 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies. Since 2005, Dr. Uriarte has held a faculty appointment at the Dept. of Ecology, Evolution & Environmental Biology. Through an integrated program of empirical and quantitative approaches, her research examines the impacts of human land use and natural disturbance (e.g., fire, hurricanes) on the dynamics of tropical forests. Uriarte's research aims to contribute to the scientific underpinnings for sustainable management of forests in the tropics, with a regional focus in Latin America.
