Rio de Janeiro and its « carioca landscapes » earns UNESCO World Heritage status
On July 1st 2012, UNESCO granted Rio de Janeiro’s "carioca landscapes" - nested between the mountains and the sea - World Heritage status. Among the exceptional sites honored by UNESCO are featured the « Sugar Loaf », Christ the Redeemer and the National Parc of Tijuca, parcel of Atlantic Forest sprawling from the Mount Corcovado to the ocean.
